Description:
We all want to help when disaster strikes, but often, we don’t quite know the most helpful ways to support someone who has experienced a disaster.
Listen, Protect and Connect (LPC) is a psychological first aid (PFA) model that was developed specifically for use by anyone working with community members to enhance resilience in the aftermath of catastrophic events and more local emergencies such as community violence.
LPC is endorsed by SAMHSA as a Disaster Recovery Resource. The model helps ensure non-mental health responders have the skills and confidence to intervene with families, children, individuals and communities in the aftermath of traumatic events. This model supports victims, builds community resiliency and fosters responder-to-responder peer support.
