Setting the Stage for Success:
Engaging Clients from the Start
Wednesday, November 6th, 2019 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
This workshop is open to all levels of program staff working in DYCD-funded programs throughout the city.
Have you ever had a client who stopped showing up to appointments or a young person who never returned to program? How do you get an accurate understanding of their needs from the start and build a relationship that will keep them motivated? Engaging clients from the moment you meet and making the intake phase a friendly conversation that provides a full picture of the individual is KEY to successful goal-setting and continued motivation. We all want our youth and clients to succeed, and it starts with building a strong foundational relationship.
So how do you get the information needed on the intake form while still engaging the client in a meaningful way? This session will help you answer this question. Using interactive activities, role plays, case studies, and existing intake forms, you will leave this session with strength-based skills for engaging, assessing, and supporting new clients from the first meeting through to the achievement of goals.
