Managing Stress in Uncertain Times

June 8th, 2020  10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Based on guidance from government officials and health experts regarding COVID-19, and in order to ensure the health and safety of all training attendees, Vibrant Training sessions for DYCD-funded program staff will be facilitated online using Zoom through the end of May.  We appreciate your patience with this process, as it is new technology for many of us.

Following your registration on EventBrite, you will receive the link to the Zoom session.

After attending the session, you will receive a certificate of attendance along with all session materials via email within 72 hours.

Target Audience:  This workshop is intended for all levels of program staff working in DYCD-funded programs throughout NYC.

Description:

Ensuring that you are taking care of yourself is foundational to the work of being an effective youth development practitioner.  The work begins with YOU and your wellness, which then enables you to provide the highest quality of service to those who need you most.

Do you sometimes feel stressed out because of the work you do? Do you get overwhelmed at times? Take this time to start off the new program year by integrating habits and strategies that will support your health and wellness so that you can give your best self to the clients that you serve. Your work can be challenging, and sometimes you may feel as though you are giving so much to others that you are neglecting your own physical, emotional, and mental health. Job stress can have far-reaching effects that when not managed can lead to burn-out, decreased productivity, physical and mental exhaustion and emotional distress.

This workshop provides participants with tools to respond in healthy ways to the different levels of emotional distress that arise from the course of their day-to-day interactions. This is an opportunity for staff members of all levels to identify and discuss sources of stress in their workplace and learn healthy ways to cope with that stress.

What will you learn?

Participants will be able to:

  • Understand common symptoms of stress and how it effects work performance

  • Create a self-care assessment and plan to stay mentally, emotionally, and cognitively balanced

  • Learn how to identify telltale signs of stress
