The DYCD Heroes Project-Comic Book Project: Initial Training Session (Grades 4-8)

The DYCD Heroes Project, working with ExpandED Schools and The Comic Book Project (www.ComicBookProject.org), engages youth in the process of writing, designing, and showcasing original comic books. The program helps build literacy development, social awareness, and teamwork skills. Participants will be trained in implementing all facets of The Comic Book Project curriculum for upper elementary and middle school youth. Participation in the Heroes Project includes a culminating celebratory event where all the comics are displayed and the youth are featured as authors and artists.
Date & Time:
Initial Training Session: October 7th, 2019 OR October 17th, 2019; 9:30am-12:30pm
AND Community of Practice: November 26th, 2019; 9:30am-12:30pm
(Please arrive at 9:15 am for registration and a prompt start to the training)
Note: It is expected that attendees choose an initial training session and all attendees attend a community of practice where they will check in on the progress of their youth-created comics.

Cancellation Notice
If you are unable to attend the training and are sending an appropriate staff member as a replacement OR if you are canceling your registration, please notify Taejha Richardson within 72 hours (or 3 business days) of the scheduled training. If the individual responsible for the original registration fails to notify ExpandED Schools of the cancellation, ExpandED Schools reserves the right to invoice the CBO for the per-person training cost.
This training is made possible by funding from DYCD, and is available at no cost to the CBOs with which DYCD contracts. This professional development opportunity is provided at no cost to you but has a value of $1500 for DYCD. If you register for and are subsequently unable to attend this session you are responsible for canceling your registration or risk being waitlisted for future events.
