Youth Communication

Program Level Resources
Type of Service:

Youth Communication provides resources for youth workers that help students gain literacy skills and strengthen their social-emotional competencies. We’ve produced true stories written by teens since 1980. We use these stories to develop lessons and curricula and train youth workers to use the stories to support social-emotional learning. Our stories are effective because youth find them relevant and relatable. Our teen writers are from the neighborhoods, schools, and backgrounds that their peers recognize. The stories create a space for deep discussion on important issues without being heavy-handed and judgmental. Combined with our lessons and training, youth workers have tools to facilitate the discussion and activities that foster literacy and social-emotional learning.
