Center for Architecture (CFA) is the leading cultural venue for architecture in New York City. Their public gallery and event space in Greenwich Village is also home to the American Institute of Architects New York (AIANY). Their mission is to educate a broad audience about the built environment and the value of architecture and design in our daily lives. In addition to programs for professional architects and the general public, they offer a wide range of K – 12 educational programs for schools, youth, and families at their Center and in schools and community sites throughout the city.
Services: The Center for Architecture offers a series of built environment training workshops and follow-up consulting services to DYCD providers who would like to include architecture and design activities in their after-school programs. In these hands-on training workshops, participants will learn new content about architecture, engineering and design through inquiry-based, hands-on activities that they can turn and use directly with students. Follow-up consulting with CFA Educators will help these trained workshop participants adapt this material to implement an engaging built environment program in their unique after-school setting.
